European Travel Insurance

European Travel Insurance

Recent studies have revealed that the top tourist destinations for British travelers are all European destinations. Whether you go down low to the beaches of Spain or Greece, the busy night life of the European capitals or up high in the Swiss Alps, you are sure to enjoy yourself and see new things. To also stay safe you should get a European travel insurance that can protect you on your journey.

A European travel insurance policy is all you need to stay safe while exploring Europe. Until a couple of years ago, tourism in Europe was centered around a few countries like Spain, Italy and France, with Paris as the place to be especially for honeymooners, but now, more and more of our beautiful continent has been open to tourists.

What and where does European Travel Insurance cover?

Europe Travel Insurance works like a normal international insurance policy except for the fact that it’s coverage does not exceed the limits of the continent. The European continent is filled

with many wondrous places to show and many exciting activities to keep you interested in travelling for a long, long time.

While all the countries of Europe are different and have something else to show, one thing should stay the same, the safety measures you take. European travel insurance will protect you, your partner and up to 6 children while travelling in Europe.

Countries covered by European travel insurance:

For a better understanding of the extent of a european travel insurance’s coverage, here is an alphabetic list of the countries that are covered: Albania, Andorra, Austria, Azores, Belarus, Belgium, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Canary Islands, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Egypt, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Gibraltar, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Macedonia, Maderia, Malta, Moldova, Monaco, Montenegro, Morocco, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Republic of Ireland, Romania, San Marino, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Tunisia, Turkey, Ukraine, Vatican City.

As you can see, while it is called European travel insurance, it will offer protection to some non-european states, like Egypt or Morocco. While the extent of coverage is not limited to Europe, you should still ask an insurance consultant where coverage is offered. For example, one of these Europe travel insurance policies will not cover you while travelling to Israel, Lebanon, Algeria or other eastern countries.

The coverage you get with Europe Travel Insurance:

Now that you know where Europe Travel Insurance covers you it is time to know what it covers you from. Even a cheap European travel insurance offer basic coverage such as:

• Medical coverage. This basic type of coverage will help you with medical bills or hospitalisation expenses if something were to happen to you while travelling.

• Loss of baggage. While travelling, your luggage can be lost or misplaced by the airline company. A cheap european travel insurance policy will help you by supporting you while your baggage is missing, and can even be used to pay for new items if you lose something essential.

• Trip delays. Delays can occur when departing or returning home. Most negative effects that occur out of your delay can be covered by European travel insurance. For instance, if you cannot return home in time to retrieve your pets from the kennel, the insurance can cover that cost for a couple more days.

While travelling in Europe, you can choose one of two ways to stay safe. One is by purchasing a Europe travel insurance policy or a European Health Insurance Card. While EHIC can keep you safe from a number of medical issues, it will not provide other types of coverage that travel insurance does, such as:

• Medical expenses to a private hospital. If you are injured or get sick while traveling, an European Health Insurance Card will not cover you if you are sent to a private hospital. Only state run hospitals accept an EHIC.

• EHIC will not cover: trip delays, cancellations, repatriation, theft or lost luggage.

No matter where you choose to go, Europe will surely surprise you with it’s beauty, and a European travel insurance policy will keep you safe wherever you go.
