You should know what your travel insurance policy doesn’t cover before purchasing it. One of the most important things to know is that insurers do not provide coverage for conditions known before the date of purchase.

Travel Insurance conditions.
If you had a pre-existing condition, or an event happened before you bought the travel insurance policy you will not be covered so there is no reason to even fill the claim. There are certain insurance policies with a pre-existing condition waiver but they cost more and are different than normal insurance policies that do not provide coverage for pre existing conditions.
Most insurance policies have certain conditions and exceptions. Travel insurance will not provide coverage against any situation that might happen on a trip. For example, if the ship suffers a malfunction on a cruise trip you will not be reimbursed by the insurer because the cruise line is responsible.
