The Battle of the Cruises |
The Caribbean vs. The Mediterranean. The Caribbean and the Mediterranean are the top two locations for cruise holidays in the world today. Thousands of people visit these destinations each year (myself included) and have an absolutely amazing time. But which would win in a battle of the cruises? Let’s find out...
Culture:The Caribbean – The Caribbean is well known for its laid back life style, reggae music and its carnivals. If you are visiting during carnival time, the culture you experience will be vibrant. If you visit during any other time of the year, don’t expect much in this category. The Mediterranean – The Med is the home of culture! Majestic architecture, iconic art, festivals and more can all be experienced on a Mediterranean cruise. Whether you stop in Dubrovnik, Florence, Monte Carlo or Barcelona, you will not have enough time to experience all the cultural gems these cities offer. History:The Caribbean – Pirates, pirates and more pirates! Who doesn’t love pirates? The Caribbean islands are also dotted with reminders of the slave trade and colonial forts. You can walk in Christopher Columbus’s footsteps if you choose to take a cruise here! The Mediterranean – If ancient history is your thing, a cruise around the Mediterranean is sure to get you bubbling with excitement! From ancient artefacts in Rome to the remains of Pompeii, a visit to the where the first Olympic Games was held and the Acropolis in Athens – there is so much to see from a historical point of view! Food and Drink:The Caribbean – Tropical with a hint of spice is what you can expect from the culinary delights of the Caribbean. Delicious exotic fruit, spicy barbecued chicken and rum are all popular here... and very appetising! The Mediterranean – Freshly caught seafood, olives, cheese and local wine can all be enjoyed on a Mediterranean cruise. Every European country has its own cuisine so you can try a number of different foods if you choose to make the Med your destination of choice.
Adventure:The Caribbean – Amazing wildlife and exciting water sports are both a must experience if you choose to make the Caribbean your cruise destination. There are so many excursions to choose from that you will have trouble deciding which you prefer most. I definitely recommend a rainforest adventure tour if you get the chance. The Mediterranean – Active volcanoes are waiting to be explored in the Mediterranean, as are a number of different activities including helicopter rides and cave tours. Like with the Caribbean there are hundreds of excursions to choose from and you will have no trouble finding one that suits you. So which destination wins in the battle of the cruises? It depends on your tastes and what you enjoy! You could always try them both! Whichever destination you choose, visit Major Cruise to compare the prices of all the major cruise companies. Cheap Mediterranean cruises and cheap Caribbean cruises are only a click away.
